Common side effects of Rifafour (and its individual components) include:
- Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and upset stomach[1][7]
- Loss of appetite and stomach cramps or pain[1][7]
- Dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, and headache[5][7]
- Heartburn, bloating, and belching[7]
- Orange or red discoloration of body fluids such as urine, saliva, sweat, and tears (harmless, but can stain contact lenses or dentures)[1][3][7]

Serious side effects that may require urgent medical attention include:
- Liver dysfunction, hepatitis, jaundice, and yellowing of the skin or eyes[3][4][5][6]

- Vision problems, including changes in color vision, blurred vision, or optic neuritis (mainly due to ethambutol; Rifafour is contraindicated in patients with optic neuritis)[4][5][6]

- Inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), causing severe abdominal and back pain[5]

- Skin rash, itching, or other severe skin reactions[3][5][7]
Contraindications & Cautions: Rifafour should not be used in individuals with hypersensitivity to any of its components, active liver disease or jaundice, prior optic neuritis, porphyria, or children under 13 years old. Caution should also be exercised regarding potential drug interactions and monitoring for side effects[4][5][6].
