- Blue lips or fingers, shortness of breath, persistent cough, or swelling in hands, feet, or legs[5]
Drug and food interactions:
- Alcohol consumption can increase the blood levels and effects of verapamil, prolonging and intensifying side effects.[2][7]
- Grapefruit juice may increase verapamil levels and side effects and should be avoided.[7]
- Verahexal can interact with many medicines, sometimes requiring dose adjustment.[2]
Special precautions: People with certain heart conditions (severe heart failure, certain arrhythmias), very low blood pressure, or a history of allergic reactions to verapamil should not take Verahexal.[7]
