Redilev 500 mg (levetiracetam) is associated with several side effects, ranging from common to potentially serious adverse reactions[1]. Most frequently reported side effects include:

  • Nasopharyngitis (common cold symptoms)
  • Somnolence (drowsiness)
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Dizziness

Other common adverse effects are:

  • Anorexia (loss of appetite)
  • Psychiatric effects such as depression, anxiety, insomnia, nervousness or irritability, and mood swings
  • Convulsions, balance disorder, lethargy, and tremor

Less frequent, but potentially serious, side effects involve:

  • Infections
  • Blood disorders such as thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, pancytopenia, neutropenia, and agranulocytosis
  • Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS)
  • Hypersensitivity reactions including angioedema and anaphylaxis
  • Weight changes and hyponatremia (low sodium)
  • Suicidal ideation, suicide attempt, psychotic disorder, agitation, hallucination, confusion, obsessive-compulsive symptoms
  • Memory impairment, coordination issues, paraesthesia, movement disorders, amnesia[1][5][6][7]

Additional reported side effects may include:

  • Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dry mouth
  • Muscle pain, weakness, joint pain
  • Changes in personality, irritability, aggression, restlessness
  • More severe allergic reactions with swelling of the face, tongue or throat, severe rash or difficulty breathing require immediate medical attention[3][7][8]
  • Kidney problems, indicated by passing very little urine, fatigue, or swelling of feet or ankles
  • Mood or mental changes, including thoughts of harming or killing oneself[3][5][6][7][8]
