Clopamon Side Effects

Clopamon (metoclopramide) can cause both common and serious side effects during use[3]. The following lists cover side effects by frequency and severity.

  • Common side effects:
    • Restlessness
    • Loss of co-ordination
    • Fast heartbeat
    • Drowsiness
    • Feeling weak (asthenia)
    • Feeling restless
    • Diarrhoea or constipation
    • Depression
    • Symptoms similar to Parkinson’s disease (rigidity, tremor)
    • Uncontrollable movements (tics, shaking, twisting, or muscle stiffness and rigidity)
    • Decrease in blood pressure (particularly with intravenous administration)
  • Less frequent side effects:
    • Raised prolactin levels (can cause unexpected milk production in men or women not breastfeeding)
    • Irregular periods
    • Visual disturbances (e.g., involuntary upward movement of the eyeballs)
  • Serious side effects (emergency attention required):
    • Chest pain, angina, or changes in heart beat (e.g., fast heartbeat or cardiac arrest, especially with injection)
    • Shock (severe drop in blood pressure, especially with injection)
    • Uncontrollable movements (often involving head or neck, particularly in children or young adults and at high doses)
    • High fever, high blood pressure, sweating, excessive saliva production, muscle stiffness—signs of neuroleptic malignant syndrome
    • Seizures (especially in people with epilepsy)

If you notice any serious side effects such as severe allergic reactions (swelling of the lips, tongue, throat; difficulty breathing; rash; or hives), chest pain, cardiac issues, or uncontrollable movements, seek immediate medical attention[3].
