Betaprofen Side Effects

Betaprofen is a brand of medication containing ibuprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for pain relief, inflammation, and fever reduction. Like other NSAIDs, Betaprofen may cause side effects[1][7].

Common side effects include:

  • Upset stomach, indigestion, or heartburn[1][7]
  • Nausea or vomiting[1][7]
  • Mild headache[1]
  • Dizziness or drowsiness[1][7]

Serious but rare side effects may include:

  • Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing)[1]
  • Gastrointestinal bleeding or ulcers, which may present as black, tarry stools or vomiting blood[3][5][7]
  • Severe chest or stomach pain, signs of a hole or perforation in the stomach or gut[3][5]
  • Swollen ankles, blood in urine, or decreased urination (possible kidney problems)[3][5]
  • Heart attack or stroke, especially with long-term use or in those with pre-existing heart conditions[5][7]
  • Tachycardia, cardiac failure, abdominal distension, gastritis, jaundice, hypotension, convulsions, and certain blood or lab abnormalities in rare cases, especially in high-risk or hospitalised patients[5]

It is important to seek immediate medical attention if you experience symptoms of a severe allergic reaction, gastrointestinal bleeding, chest pain, or severe dizziness. Do not use Betaprofen just before or after certain heart surgeries, such as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)[5].

The risk of serious side effects increases with prolonged use, higher doses, or if you have underlying health issues. Always follow your healthcare provider’s instructions and do not exceed the recommended dose[1][7].
